Giving the Gift of Mishloach Manot
Aside from the story of Esther, eating hamentashens, music, and masks, giving gifts is one of the most exciting parts of Purim! We are the 7th grade class of Beth El-The Beaches Synagogue, and we invite you to perform this Purim mitzvah with us, giving Mishloach Manot bags. A Mishloach Manot bag includes hamentashen, candy, fruit, and a beverage. It is supposed to be given to at least 2 friends and/or families on Purim day, the 14th of Adar, which falls on March 12th of 2017.
Purim is a holiday celebrated throughout the Jewish community. This fun occasion, filled with a festive meal, a fun party, and costumes celebrates the story of Purim. It is a tale of a selfish man named Haman who wanted to kill all of the Jews. Moredechai, the leader of the Jews, got all of his people together to unite in prayer. His cousin Esther revealed her true Jewish nature and asked her husband, King Ahasuerus, to help the Jews defeat Haman and spare her people. The King accepted her request by sending Haman to the gallows. The Jews successfully defended themselves against Haman and won!
Proceeds from this will be distributed to the needy (40%) and Beth El Religious School (60%). Please let us help you to fulfill this incredible mitzvah!
Our class, with some help from Beth El's Sisterhood, made all of the hamentaschen for the Mishloach Manot bags on February 5, 2017.

Welcome 7th Grade Beth El Families
to the 2016-2017 School Year!
My name is Jacquie Sinder and I will be the 7th Grade Religious School teacher. I am a Registered Nurse with a Masters in Science Specializing in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. I primarily focused on children and adolescents. I was also in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp Reserves proudly serving adults in a Combat Support Hospital and General Hospital for 8 years. I moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in June of 2013 with my 3 children. Ben and Anna are 16 years old and Joe is 11. I am currently the Office Manager at Beth El. We feel blessed to have found our Jewish home at Beth El.
My main objective for this class is to help prepare for the important milestone of bar and bat mitzvah through the exploration of one’s Jewish identity. The class will have a safe place to be listened to, respected, and guided. I will encourage self-expression through unique and creative ways while utilizing 2 Jewish textbooks. The Prophets: Speaking Out for Justice will allow us to explore the relevance of the words and actions of Jewish prophets in our world today. Making A Difference: Putting Jewish Spirituality Into Action, One Mitzvah at a Time aids us in discovering how we can give ourselves through ethical and ritual mitzvot. Actively participating in a mitzvah project will support a stronger Jewish commitment, responsibility, and morality.
I look forward to working with all of your children during this exciting year. Let’s discover how we can make a difference in our lives and the world. Please remember to check your child’s folder and sign their homework sheet each week. Don’t hesitate to call me at 904-273-9100 or email me at [email protected].
Thank you for your time and support.
